Chris Thompson Vice President, Valuation Services
Chris Thompson has served over 25 years in the marketing industry—mostly helping companies manage their marketing spending. His many years in ad agency media planning and buying culminated in head-of-office positions at Ogilvy & Mather and Initiative Media. When Chris left the agency media world in 1999 it was to apply his knowledge of marketing communication value to the emerging world of technology. Chris quickly became involved in various enterprises that sought to improve the efficiency of offline marketing processes by migrating them to the web, most notably developing the decision rules for a patented method of a web-based media planning. In 2002, Chris launched SponsorAid—the only known online service performing financial valuation of sponsorship proposals. In three-and-a-half years, SponsorAid provided financial valuations for nearly 1,000 proposals and over $200 million in agreements, eventually becoming the definitive resource for sponsorship proposal management at Miller Brewing Company. In 2006 Chris merged his company with Sponsor Direct, the leading technology provider of sponsorship management solutions. Chris has worked his entire career in Chicago, and remains there as the head of Sponsor Direct Valuation Services.
